Pastoral Resident

Sophie Beal began her Pastoral Residency in August 2024 and is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). After graduating from Yale Divinity School with a focus in New Testament interpretation and Reformed theological studies, Sophie was thrilled to join the team at GFC. She loves working with faith communities to encourage questions and empower people of all ages to deepen their engagement with the Bible and one another. Sophie grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and now lives in Hamden with her husband Eric, their three cats and a very slobbery Great Dane named Titus. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out in coffee shops, reading poetry by Emily Dickinson, teaching Pure Barre classes and dancing to Taylor Swift.
